Kiesanowski and Kerdemelidis wedding trip
So the button on my horn was a bit twitchy, and I had to press it and squirm it round to make the horn activate. Turns out that sheer age had caused the innerwire to break, and the springy contacts were loose too. Important points on horn button repair:The end cap unscrews! Do not hacksaw on the seam thinking it was sealed with glue. The only thing making it hard to turn will be the dirt of ages. I hauled the brown wire out using force. Fortunaltely it slid out - there is the possibility yours might break and need replacememt. I used pliers to recrimp the "swage" back onto both sides after cleaning up all contact points. The proper tool would be some kind of conic compressor as used on aerial cable plugs. The ittle spring pieces were also loose in the nylon/plastic end piece. A good squirt of gel-superglue fills up the chewed out nylon and holds the spring in place. Also remember to lightly sand the end cone and the spring contacts. The spring plays no part in the electrical connections. Criggie - 2013 Click for larger images ![]()
