Kiesanowski and Kerdemelidis wedding trip
My employer will soon require staff to carry their laptop home, and plans on disabling VPNs too. I've found that while a backpack works for the regular bikes, its not possible on the recumbent, and none of my existing storage is big enough. In fact, there doesn't even seem to be a product I can reasonably buy either. Upshot - Make something! I have made a hard shell for the laptop out of MDF, padded the inside with foam and covered that in soft old cotton for scratch protection. At the moment its held together by webbing, I will consider a hinge or similar. Also the outside of the shell needs something to wrap it. The outer bag is the seat pan of an old folding camping chair. The main load is carried by a headstrap around the top of the seat, with the rest shared between a velcro strap around the lower sway-arm's tube (the chainstay, kind-of) And there are two straps around the seat. I've tried to make the top like a waterproof pannier with two flaps that overlap, but I'n not sure how wet it will get - most water will be road spray off the front wheel, some off the rear. I also worry about break-over height, what height of thing I can cross before it whacks the ground. My last option is to fit a rack and panniers, but that's not a preferred option - with the rear suspension, a rack needs to either be cantilevered from the seat, or solely supported by the rear sway arm.
